this week...
we spent many a warm day outdoors,
watching blossoms grow on cherry plum tree,
looking like snow,
running in grass, kicking balls and reading while
sun beat down and wind blew hair.
we tilled soil and pulled winter's abundance of weeds in
preparation for spring's planting.
we stayed up late into quiet of night;
reading adventures, watching movies and playing games
{sorry revenge and loaded questions}.
moses woke each morning with a hug for this mama,
a statement "i want somepin to eat" and, after breakfast,
a quick dash to his room for his basket so he could
"play guys".
{on a side note, moses' new bad guy when he plays
is gluten. they have to fight the gluten. guns shoot gluten.
when the guys fall, they fall into gluten and die. yep.
the things kids pick up from us.}
layla immersed herself in king arthur, reading both
king arthur and his knights and
{only the first two books of} the once and future king,
playing medieval games on her kindle fire and
writing stories of knights and damsels in distress.
josiah, with an interest in spies and mysteries,
has been reading two minute mysteries,
spiderweb for two and playing i spy nonstop.
he has even begun creating exciting mysteries for
the rest of us.
the twins are finally desiring to read,
{hannah more than ruth} and
thursday hannah sat and read half of
hop on pop by herself, sounding out words and
asking for help when she couldn't remember a letter.
and then they played.
there is always play.
ian paced the house,
anxious as he awaits letter from college,
curious as to what his future holds.
i visited with my midwives
{no, not pregnant, they are just dear friends}
and felt such joy being in their presence.
pearl... well, she's growing and
utterly amazing. be still my heart.
we cleaned, read, cooked, ate, lived, learned, played, loved.
it was a good week.
how was yours?
i just read your poem, "to love" and it gave me the chills! Thank you for that beautiful work of art!
ReplyDeleteHi Amy, I just found your blog through Rhythm of the Home. I think it's awesome and am amazed at how alike we think! Your post about being tired of feeling guilty really resonates with me, as I've come to that place as well in the last couple of weeks. This is my first year homeschooling our daughters (4 of them!) and I've tried Charlotte Mason and waldorf and now we're unschooling, which is difficult, because it feels so out of control! But it is the Lord, and He is leading us. Anyways, God bless!
